Loose Cannon – Abingdon Bridge

abingdon-bridge-600x600Traditional with a modern twist. Loose Cannon’s first and still most popular brew. A copper hue belies the floral aroma of this thirst quenching beer. Smooth malty notes with a balanced hoppy finish.

Harper Arms Rating (5=Tribute, 1=Carling): (3.5 / 5)

  1. If this beer was a car it would be a Frogeye Sprite by my reckoning. Traditional and lovely but it’s no E-Type.

    Bug Eyed Sprite
And why, hmm, modern twist..? This beer does have a fruity smell to it but you have to sniff, there’s not the slap you in the face aroma that I’d expect if a point is made in the marketing BS. And not much of a hint in the tasting either.
That said it’s a very good beer, buy a pint of this in a pub and you’ll be made up, in our tasting it went really well with the Pork Scratchings and Dry Roasted Peanuts but not so much the pickled eggs.. but then what does..?

  2. Definite malty taste with a slight ‘hoppy finish’. An enjoyable pint.

I would be very happy if this was being served to me in a pub and would drink it all night. But The Harper Arms is no ordinary pub and The Regulars have been tasting some extraordinary beers that sets the bar very high. So only 3.5 from us.
